Minutes from the MIG@NET Kick-off Meeting
During the final plenary session of the kick-off meeting, all work-package coordinators gave feedback on the discussions that had taken place during the thematic work-package sessions, indicating the theoretical and methodological issues that framed the specific thematic research areas, as well as ideas about proposed case-studies to be carried out by the different partners participating in each work-package. The purpose of the thematic work-package sessions was to allow participating partners to exchange initial ideas and questions about the work to be carried out, as well as for work-package coordinators to elaborate a theoretical and conceptual framework that reflects current debates on the topic of the thematic research area, to be further discussed and concretized by dialogue between partners and in relation to the different case-studies that partners will finally choose.
The final plenary session was attended by the scientific coordinator or the project, Maria Stratigaki, who gave feedback to work-package coordinators on the issues that each work-package would need to address further in order to arrive at a comprehensive thematic framework that would integrate and synthesize the different case-studies. On the occasion of the kick-off meeting, MIG@NET organises two open public lectures:
Myria Vassiliadou will talk on “The Financial Crisis and the Future of Women in Europe – EU Social Policy from a Gender Perspective”
on Wednesday, 10 March at 19:00
The event will be held at Athens Chamber of Small and Medium Sized Industries (VEA), Akadimias 18 (map)
Myria Vassiliadou is the Secretary General of the European Women’s Lobby and retains the status of Senior Research Associate at the Mediterranean Institute of Gender Studies - MIGS.
The lecture will be held in Greek. Simultaneous translation in English will be available.
Michel Bauwens will talk on “P2p Networks and the Production of the Commons»
on Saturday 13 March at 18.00.

Michel Bauwens is the founder of the Foundation for Peer-to-Peer Alternatives and works in collaboration with a global group of researchers in the exploration of peer production, governance, and property. He is the author of a number of on-line essays, including the seminal thesis Peer to Peer and Human Evolution, and The Political Economy of Peer Production. Bauwens currently lives in Bangkok, Thailand.
The lecture will be held in English.
